Paul and Val Fairweather were the first managers of the Attimore Hall pub when it was opened to the public in August 1988.

Here they are seen with, Graham Carter Area Manager (left), the Lady Mayoress (centre), Paul and Val (right) on the opening night of the Atti'.

The Pub was originally owned by Benskins and had a major makeover from the old farm house. This picture was taken by the 'The Welwyn/Hatfield Times' newspaper as was the following picture.

This picture shows Val and Paul in the new Conservatory that was built at the back of the pub.

Paul and Val organised many special events at the Attimore including Pig Roasts, Discos and Christmas Eve parties. They once hired a Bucking Bronco machine and the Chef at the time, 'Big John', ended up riding it.

The were also involved in a charity for the Hatfield Lions and received a Charity Shield for their efforts.

More Ghosts: although they never actually saw any, they both report that there was always a 'presence' at the Atti'. Objects kept being moved and lost! This is in keeping with reports of later managers.

One of the first barmaids was Denise Squirrell who still works at the Atti' at lunch times.

Not much has changed to the front of the Attimore since 1988 except perhaps the amount of flowers that hung from the walls.

Paul and Val now run the Compton Arms near Highbury corner and can be reached at 020 7359 6883.

Many thanks go to Paul and Val for the photos and anecdotes and for their time in digging it all out.
