This Web Site is to promote the 'Attimore Hall' public house.

This site contains pictures of the pub and it's regulars, details of it's services, forthcoming events, an illustrated history and details of how to get there.

It is located on the Ridgeway in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, AL7 2AD, UK. 30 miles north from London on the A1(M) motorway.

Telephone: 01707 299332.

It was a farm back to the 17th century See History.

The Attimore is owned by Ember Inns/Bass

and run by Vince..

Why a Web Site for the Attimore Hall?

There I was propping up the bar drinking a pint of 'Old Specked Hen' when I got talking to someone I hadn't seen in the Atti' before. "This used to be the Vet's house" I said. "Oh! no it didn't" he said. "Yes, definitely" I said. "Never" he said. This could have gone on for some time!

But then I thought to myself, (this happens when drinking 'Old Speckled Hen') what do I really know about the history of the Attimore? I had heard stories of course but I had never actually spoken to a previous tenant or read anything definitive. So I started asking a few of the regulars about the place. The recollections were varied and time scales blurred. So I thought to myself ('Speckled Hen' kicking in again) I'll find out.

My first stop was the Attimore Veterinary Surgery which is next door to the Atti' and believed to have connections with the Vet that allegedly used to live at the Atti'. After a few phone calls I found out that someone there knew the previous Vet and was still in touch. I asked if they could contact the Vet and explain what I was doing and request a contact. Much to my surprise I was told that the previous Vet offered her phone number saying she would be glad to talk to me but not during 'The Bill'. Being a 'Bill' fan myself I knew I was going to get on with this lady. I was not disappointed. Esther Denham (the previous Vet who DID OWN THE ATTIMORE AND LIVE THERE, SO THERE!) spoke to me for a good hour and gave me the details of her time at the Atti' and the tenant before her who was the last farmer of the Attimore land. For the results of this and other sorties, see the History.

Having done all this work and with a view to promoting my Regular Pub I decided to put together a Web Site containing my findings. I hope and expect to collect further information and place this on the Site. I hope you find it interesting. Cheers,

     Bruce Piggott.
